This trip takes you to two gems of the Canary Islands: Tenerife and La Gomera. Two neighbouring islands with strikingly different landscapes—majestic volcanoes, lush forests, and charming villages. A varied and rewarding itinerary, perfect for discovering at the pace of your footsteps.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: MONTREAL – TENERIFE : Participants meet at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport and depart for Tenerife. Overnight flight. Meal included.
  • Day 2: TENERIFE : On arrival at Tenerife Airport, meet your local guide and transfer to your hotel in Vilaflor, a charming village with stunning views of the surrounding mountains, where you’ll be staying for four nights. Overnight at the hotel. Dinner included.
  • Day 3: ANAGA RURAL PARK, CHAMORGA HIKE : Transfer to Chamorga. On the way, you’ll make a first stop for a hike through the heart of Anaga Rural Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This striking mountain range, with its sharp ridges and deep cliffs, offers breathtaking scenery. You’ll follow a narrow trail through a lush laurel forest (laurisilva), dotted with picturesque farms nestled in the greenery. Upon arrival in Chamorga, you’ll discover the authentic charm of northern Tenerife: terraced villages, cobblestone paths, and untouched nature. The hike continues to the secluded beach of Bermejo — a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path retreat. Before heading back to your hotel, enjoy a short visit of the small village of Chamorga. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included. Distance: 10 km / Approximate walking time: 5.5 hours / Elevation: +800m, - 800m
  • Day 4: LA GUAJARA SUMMIT (2715M) : Departure for Teide National Park to hike La Guajara (2,717 m), the third highest peak on the island. Along the way, you’ll cross striking, moon-like landscapes where a few hardy endemic plants — such as white broom from Teide, tajinaste (viper’s bugloss), wild mustard, and wallflower — manage to thrive despite the dry, volcanic soil. At the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views of the park, the surrounding mountains, and on a clear day, the ocean in the distance. Return to the hotel at the end of the day. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included. Distance: 11 km / Approximate walking time: 5.5 hours / Elevation: +650m, - 650m
  • Day 5: VILAFLOR, THE FOREST AND LUNAR LANDSCAPE OF TEIDE PARK : Today, you will set out on an acclimatization hike in preparation for the upcoming ascent of Mount Teide. This warm-up trek takes you through Teide National Park, offering stunning views of the Corona Forestal and its iconic Canary Island pines. Along the way, you’ll be immersed in a surreal landscape filled with vivid colours, striking rock formations, and varied textures that give the area an almost otherworldly feel. You’ll walk across expansive lava fields, pass volcanic cones, and encounter dykes — dramatic rock walls formed by cooling lava — all combining to create a constantly shifting and awe-inspiring panorama. It’s a perfect opportunity to take in the lunar beauty of the park in all its grandeur. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. You’ll head to bed early tonight, as the departure for the summit is scheduled around 1:30 AM. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included. Distance: 8 km / Approximate walking time: 4.5 hours / Elevation: +450m, - 450m
  • Day 6: TEIDE SUMMIT - LA GOMERA : Early departure - Under the glow of your headlamps, you’ll begin the long-awaited ascent of Mount Teide in the stillness of the night. The experience unfolds in the silence of the mountain, beneath a sky filled with stars — a rare privilege made possible by the altitude and low light pollution of the region. You’ll reach the summit just in time to witness a breathtaking sunrise, as the first light of dawn bathes the island, the archipelago, and the Atlantic Ocean in golden hues. A truly unforgettable moment, suspended between earth and sky. After this incredible adventure, you'll transfer to the port of Los Cristianos to board a ferry to La Gomera. Upon arrival, you’ll head to Hermigua, where you’ll settle into your apartment-style hotel for the next two nights. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included. Distance: 19 km / Approximate walking time: 9 hours / Elevation: +1200m, - 1200m
  • Day 7: GARAJONAY NATIONAL PARK, UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE : Departure for one of the most beautiful hikes on the island of La Gomera! Your adventure begins in the heart of the Hermigua valley, where a gentle stream winds its way through terraced fields and palm trees. Following its path, you’ll reach the charming El Cedro waterfall. The hike continues into the magical world of Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spanning over 4,000 hectares, the park is home to an exceptional variety of plant life, with more than 400 species. You’ll take a break at the small Lourdes chapel, nestled deep in the forest, before immersing yourself in the lush laurel and tree heath woods—remnants of ancient subtropical forests from the Tertiary era. At the end of the day, return to your accommodation while enjoying sweeping views over the Hermigua Valley. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included. Distance: 9 km / Approximate walking time: 5.5 hours / Elevation: +880m, - 880m
  • Day 8: THE SUMMITS OF LA GOMERA : From the heights of the park, you'll enjoy spectacular views over the entire island, with the ocean stretching out in the distance and, on clear days, glimpses of neighbouring islands such as Tenerife and El Hierro. Your journey continues through laurel forests—a rare type of subtropical vegetation found in only a few places around the world. These lush, green forests are humid and teeming with mosses, ferns, and endemic trees. Later in the day, you’ll transfer to Tenerife, more specifically to the charming coastal town of El Médano. Known for its laid-back atmosphere, sandy beach, and small local shops, it’s the perfect spot to wind down. Check into your last hotel and enjoy a final farewell dinner before returning to Montreal. Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included. Distance: 10 km / Approximate walking time: 4.5 hours / Elevation: +287m, - 665m
  • Day 9: TENERIFE - MONTREAL : Transfer to Tenerife airport for your return flight to Montreal. Breakfast included.
