Itinerary
- Day 1: MONTREAL – GUATEMALA : Participants meet at Montréal-Trudeau airport and depart for Guatemala with connecting flights. On arrival, welcome by your local guide and transfer to Earth Lodge (or similar) where you will stay for the whole week. Cocktails and snacks will be served on arrival. Settle into your rooms and enjoy the Temazcal (traditional Mayan wood-fired sauna) available on site to relax. Briefing for your stay with the local team and our guide followed by an evening yoga flow session to release tension before bedtime. Snacks and dinner included. * The yoga sessions will be adapted to the levels of all participants, offering you progression throughout the week.
- Day 2: OPENING CIRCLE AND CULTURAL ACTIVITY : Begin your week of healing with an Opening Circle. This is where you will place a personal intention that will follow you throughout the Challenge. Accompanied by your yogi guide, discover the themes you'll explore through each yoga, stretching and hiking session to help you deepen your practice. This morning, you'll start your day with an energy-style hatha yoga session to energize and ground you for the day. In the afternoon, set off on a cultural e-bike tour of a local coffee farm. You'll enjoy a private interactive tour by on-site experts for a complete eco-cultural immersion and have plenty of time to explore and enjoy the delicious coffee drinks prepared by the estate. Rest of the evening free. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included.
- Day 3: LOCAL HIKE AND MAYAN CEREMONY : Start your day with a dynamic hatha yoga session! Today you'll be guided through a series of standing postures to become aware of the place you give to performance in your life. Breakfast and departure for a short hike to explore the area, including magnificent mountain rainforests and local fincas. You'll walk along the famous “Cuatro Caminos” trail, which features century-old trees and a rainforest. Along the way, you'll come across many magnificent viewpoints, perfect for enjoying your picnic! Back at the lodge, you'll have some free time to enjoy the facilities. In the late afternoon, you'll be treated to an extraordinary experience: a Mayan ceremony accompanied by a local shaman. End the day with a gentle yoga session. Dinner and evening free. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included. Distance: 5 to 8 km / Approx. walking time: 2 - 3 hrs / Elevation: +/- 300 to 400m
- Day 4: CERRO DEL CUCURUCHO AND MINERAL POOL : Transfer to your starting point to enjoy a guided hike through an oak and cloud forest. You'll observe a wide variety of birds and flowers on the way to the summit of the famous El Cucurucho, and be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Lake Amatitlàn. End your hike with a dip in the famous mineral pools of El Pilar farm. Back at the lodge, you'll enjoy a stretching session, complete with a final relaxation pose to unwind. You'll be led to reflect on the subject of alignment - in yoga, in your life and, above all, in your inner alignment. Dinner and evening free. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included. Distance: 12 km / Approximate walking time: 6 hrs / Elevation: +600m / -975m
- Day 5: HIKE AND OVERNIGHT STAY AT ACATENANGO VOLCANO : Early morning departure to the sleepy mountain village of La Soledad. You'll start by walking on a steep path through the local agricultural fields - the same path used every morning by local villagers to access their fields of corn, snow peas and lilies. The second phase of the climb passes through an ancient rainforest. A freshly prepared picnic lunch awaits you at midday. The 3rd phase of the climb takes you to the volcano's base camp, which is perched just below the tree line, offering breathtaking views of the Antigua valley and Volcán de Fuego. As your local guide prepares supper accompanied by hot tea and coffee, you’ll be invited to join a brief meditation. Immerse yourself in the present moment, calming your mind by focusing on your breath as it harmonizes with the tranquility of the mountain peak. Your guide will gently lead you through a mindful breathing exercise. Overnight camp stay at the summit of the Acatenango Volcano. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included. Distance: 6 km / Approximate walking time: 5 hrs / Elevation: +900m
- Day 6: ACATENANGO VOLCANO SUMMIT AND DESCENT : Following an early breakfast at the camp, you'll embark on a climb to the summit along a sand and gravel scree trail, surrounded by dwarf pines and vibrant alpine mosses. The path to the summit is the most challenging part of the climb. At the summit, you can rest and enjoy a 360-degree view over the Guatemalan highlands to the Mexican border. After enjoying the summit, you'll begin the descent to La Soledad and return to the Earth Lodge. After dinner, enjoy an evening of sharing centered on the theme of healing, followed by a restorative yoga session designed to soothe the nervous system and promote restful sleep. This practice invites you to close the day in silence and mindfulness. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included. Distance: 7 km / Approx. walking time: 5 hrs / Elevation: +450m / -1350m
- Day 7: SUNSET HIKE : This morning, we invite you to a hatha yoga session on the subject of letting go, a process that takes time and practice, but that can transform our relationship to challenges and to ourselves. You will then have part of the day free to relax at the lodge. You can enjoy a massage or various optional treatments at the on-site spa, perfect for letting go... Join a hands-on culinary experience at lunchtime as you learn the art of making Guatemala's famous tortillas! Guided by a local team, you’ll craft these traditional delights and enjoy the satisfaction of tasting your creations. In the late afternoon, enjoy a short-guided hike along the trails around your accommodation where you'll have the opportunity to walk through an avocado farm. You will depart a few hours before sunset to take advantage of the “Golden Hour”, the best light of the day for photos! This marks your final day in this magical place. You’ll be invited to a soothing hatha yoga session, followed by a closing circle where everyone can share their intentions of the week. This is a special moment to connect with the new friendships you've formed throughout your journey. To celebrate your achievement, a festive dinner awaits, offering the perfect way to conclude your challenge week. Breakfast, lunch, dinner included. Distance: 3 to 5 km / Approximate walking time: 2 hrs / Elevation: +/- 300m
- Day 8: GUATEMALA – MONTREAL : Depending on the flight schedule, morning yoga session before leaving Guatemala for your return flight to Montreal. Breakfast included.
