Hi everyone,
I’m taking on a challenge this year that is equal parts meaningful… and mildly questionable for someone built more for short speedy bursts than multi‑day mountain expeditions.
In support of the Cancer Research Society, I’ve committed to trekking nearly 60 km over 5 days in the Chic‑Chocs. Yes—the actual mountains. Yes—I’ve done the math, and no—it does not look good for my knees.
But this cause is personal. My dad is currently fighting bladder cancer, and over the years I’ve watched too many family members and old friends face their own battles. Some overcame it, some continue the fight, and some we miss deeply. Their courage makes my upcoming struggle with gravity, elevation, and my own questionable athletic decisions feel very small by comparison.
My goal is to raise $6,000 to support research and patient programs that genuinely change lives.
If you’re able to contribute, I’d be incredibly grateful. And if you can’t, even sharing this post helps more than you’d think. Every bit of support pushes us closer to a world where fewer families hear the word “cancer.”
Thank you for your generosity, encouragement, and future sympathy for the state of my legs on day five.
